Creatives - (to what the extent, if any) can they be unusual? (1 Viewer)

Basically, I got a 13/15 for my creative in Trials (which is a decent mark I realise, but I'm for me that's borderline bad) and the critique was that apart from being confusing in some areas (which I realise now), it was a tad strange. I wrote about a genderfluid/androgynous person in second person narrative.

And a person in my year got 10/15 due to her 'unrealistic plot', but she had written a science-fiction narrative.

So basically, will they be penalised if they are fucking unusual?

why u makin it so complicated. u just have to find a non-cliched plot that says sumfin bout belonging. and just memorise a story based on that plot. if u do a complicated story like this it culd fuk u over in the hsc if the stimulus does not suit.

Its got to be unique, but simple for them to understand. But if its too simple then its cliche. Such a stupid subject - man am I glad I dont have to do it anymore.

FML where is the line between simple/understandable/unique and simple/understandable/cliche?
Fuck this shit, I'm cuddling my Extension creative - AOS gives me the shits.

Keep the ideas simple, but your language sophisticated - as opposed to sophisticated ideas and simple language.
