(a+b/c)+(b+c/a)+(a+c/b)=?? where a,b,c are the roots, does anyone know how to simplify this expression?

i have worked soln but it skips to this step

((a+b+c)(ab+bc+ac)-3abc)/(abc)

how?!?!

yeah, some past papers collection my school gives me.

you know the second line - how do you get from 3rd to 4th step?

theres no real way to get it, u just have to see it. thats why this question is a bit tricky.

if u expand (a+b+c)(ab+bc+ac) and take away 3abc u get the expression on top. u need to do this bcuz the original expression would not have allowed u to use sums and products of roots.
