Hey all,

I just want to ask what are some good study guides + textbooks for Preliminary and HSC:

- MODERN HISTORY and
- PHYSICS

If you could tell me the title and authors/publishers that would be great.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated :)

Publishers/Authors, not very sure, but for Physics, specifically Preliminary, use Excel or Jacaranda. This might help you out: EXCEL PRELIMINARY - Physics Year 11

For Modern History study guides, I prefer the Macquarie ones. :spin: I heard that book was an okay book.:jump:

Some people on here just recommend buying the year 12 2Unit maths text because it covers alot of the stuff taught in year 11. (from what i have read on here. Dont quote me on it though)

I'd like to ask about textbooks/resources for Japanese Continuers. My school gives me the Wakatta! textbook and we buy the workbook, but I'd just like to you if anyone knows of any good supplementary textbooks that I could use, for either Prelim or HSC course.

Thanks in advance :spin:

Our class had to buy new ones for the new course (duh) and we were deciding between the updated version of our old ones, the Pearson one, and the Cambridge one. We ultimately decided to order a class set of Cambridge, because the Pearson one was basically the same as the old one. We were looking through sample ones and I found the Cambridge one to be a little more complex and perhaps more in depth. Both seemed easy to follow and had good info. Although i only had a quick glance at the Cambridge one.

Did that make any sense?
Well I don't have much of an idea of any other ones, all I know is this is what we use. So I recommend Cambridge, but either seem good to me.

So here...
Cambridge:
Welcome to Cambridge University Press
Pearson:
Pearson - Schools Title: Legal Studies Preliminary

Oh yeah, I forgot. Math counts but unless you're given a crappy textbook like Math in Focus then you don't really need to buy extra textbooks.

u reckon maths in focus is actually crappy? why so? which ones are better?

The questions in MiF are only basic and it doesn't effectively consolidate your knowledge as well as other maths textbooks such as Cambridge or Fitzpatrick do.

I think the theory part in MiF is quite good as it is easy to understand.

Any recommended textbooks? I want to study a bit before my year begins.

HI cs01001. I've just finished my HSC. And most of your subject selections are very similar to mine. I would highly recommend the Success One HSC Business Studies past paper book. It definitely helped me come first in Business Studies in my school, as it provides abundant past HSC papers and full solutions to give you sufficient practise before the actual HSC.

Also Cambridge Checkpoint Economics is the only past paper book available for economics, that has full worked solutions. Highly recommend this, because the boardofstudies does not provide fully worked solutions to past papers. And remember "practice makes perfect" !!!

Success One Mathematics (2 unit) and also Success One Mathematics Extension 1 (3 Unit) highly effective.

These books are highly beneficial!!!! Feel free to contact me, as i can sell them at MASSIVE DISCOUNTS to you. :) All in good condition. :)

Hey,

We will be starting school in roughly 2 weeks and a little more. I am just wondering if any Year 12s or past students can recommend us any good textbooks to buy for the Preliminary Year.

My subject choices are:
- 2U Advance English
- 3U Maths
- 2U Chemistry
- 2U Economics
- 2U Business Studies
- 2U Geography

Thanks :)
The Cambridge 3 unit Mathematics year 11 is the best! Provides you will excellent questions, and fully worked, easy to understand solutions. Most selective schools are using this book.

Feel free to contact me if you are interested. My one is kept in good condition. And I can offer you massive discounts.

Feel free to contact me if you are interested.
