Can marks be aligned down? (1 Viewer)

Lets say you do a relatively easy HSC course... lets say Senior science

Can the aligning of marks actually go down? so a 90 raw going to an 80 aligned mark because the exam is easy?

or am i completely confused and making an idiot of myself

yahh this i know but hypothetically, could the aligning make a mark lower than the raw or can it only go up?

Im not 100% sure (so correct me if I am wrong), but I think that it is possible.

Aligning can make the mark lower than the raw, of course. Why would there be a restriction on it?

because its mean? so even if you get 100 raw for a subject it can be moved down, this has me worried immensely

Well, if the test is so easy that a blind monkey can get 100 in the test - then of course it's going to be aligned down. That's the point of aligning. It's to ensure that those band standards are kept year after year.

this may help you sleep at night but i go to a ~200 school. we have about 90-100 people doing ssc. last year 9 got a band 6 so it shouldnt be too hard to get one with all the aligning jazz.

as can a blind monkey but I'm aiming for a mid to high band 6
