I am like you :p

I always ace short answers and get full marks for essays but always fuck up during MC
oh!! but i wouldnt say that i stuffed up multiple choice, i mean, it's 19! LOL. that's still really good! although, compared to my trial, my hsc performance appears below my standard! hahaha

so u got 94? but that scaled to 97?
aligned to 97, yes. scaling and aligning are different. :)
so my mark on my actual hsc was seen as 97. you dont actually know what your unaligned mark is unless you get your raw marks, which in my case I did, but typically you don't get that information.

that may change in the hsc, as the standard of essay-writing increases dramatically and the content becomes quite a bit more sophisticated than the preliminary course.

the exam was quite difficult last year, and thus the raw marks would have been lower.

and also, humanities subjects are not like maths where there is always a right or wrong answer - there is a great deal of diversity in the responses, and there is an element of subjectivity involved.

you might be thinking about needing 97 as a FINAL mark (i.e. the mark on the hsc), because you generally need 97 for a state rank for the mark on the HSC, but the raw marks would have been lower than the mark reported on the HSC anyway.

There's always 1 fking MC answer. Happened all the time to me this year.

I always lose my marks in the essays only. Teachers can be meticulous bitches. "There's no such thing as a 100% essay..."

true that, the essays are more often than not the differentiators! i disagree though that there's no such thing as a 100% essay; thorough analysis and not just description, as well as well-integrated material and a good balance between theoretical and practical knowledge can get you 100%. but it is very difficult to do.

Yeh true. But usually they just mark it along a bell curve and not by how good people are.

This is very correct. Lol when you're walking around, do you ever think in your mind "i'm better than him at economics...i'm better than her economics...". :p

noo hahah! i was always just focused on trying to do the best that I can, and really kept to myself about my marks and didn't really try to nose around to find out other people's marks! i think people in my school though did think that i was "better than them", because people were saying that i was going to state rank and i just kept trying to block it out as I didn't really believe in myself that much!

I used dixon and riley, but alot of what I wrote was personal analysis, i.e. stuff that you don't just get out of textbooks, my own personal perspective on the issues.
thanks!!! :)

thanks alot! that's good, congratulations, it's good to go in with rank 1, but now you have to back it up in the hsc! my hsc performance seems a little "off" my trial performance, as I got 20/20, 39/40, 20/20, 20/20 in my trial exam! hahaha!
