yeah i got stuck with the carotel/uni gardens situation last year and decided to defer so i could work and travel. my first preference this year is B&G and im really hoping im not put in the same situation although i suppose theres nothing i can do about it and will just have to go with wherever i get put. im looking forward to the college/campus life.

If you do get placed at Carotel/Unigardens/other your best option is to complain about the unsuitability of the accom there (if shared rooms or 7km travel distances are an issue for you) and to apply directly to the college(s) you would prefer to live in. Last year, due to an admin stuff-up, my application got dealt with in mid-Jan when I got back to Australia instead of November when it was lodged. The complaint was enough to get a better off-campus offer than the initial one, and the e-mail to Burgmann led to them bypassing the uni accom service to offer a place without interview.
Also, whilst Burgmann is still heavily Arts/Law focused it is trying to diversify. This means that non-law students particularly ones studying specialist or advanced degrees now have improved odds.

I think you should really update the UniLodge board - Unilodge is now winning the Arts Sheild & Smashed Battle of the bands this year.

Also you might want to point out that Warrumbul is the first of the colleges to have a majority of domestic students and they're about 90% first years - Making it a party haven. Notoriuos for the COD party & Vintage Ball so far in Semester 1, Warrumbul is smashing the old Unilodge rep.

The best thing about UniLodge is that you have the choice to heavily participate in the College lifestyle or leaving yourself in your room and studying + living there as a home rather than college. The best is being able to find the median of this and thats what UniLodge offers

Warrumbul is also 95% Single studios/Studio Long/Deluxe's - really nice apartments, varying from $200 to $301 per week including utilities + internet etc.

Hope this helps!

Inward Bound, enough said. :p

Your points are valid.

That is amazingly expensive, though.

Hi, I've put down Science/Law at ANU as my first preference. No idea which college to go with. Thinking Bruce but not completely sold.

Burgmann as said does have many Law, however most of them are Arts/Law.
If you go there then you may encounter people with rather "creative" ways of understanding science, so if debating whether or not living on a super-cooled diamond while wearing a warm coat is a valid way to avoid the heat death of the universe is your thing you may enjoy it. Yes, that was a dinner conversation a few weeks ago.
Else then Bruce or another college with a higher percentage of Science folk may be more your style.

If you want to email me a note about Unilodge (whether it be Davey or Kinloch) I am happy to add to my post.
Hey,

I'll be going over to ANU for exchange this coming Sem 2, was wondering if you could help me out, coz I don't know if I should apply to Davey or Kinloch.

Which one will be more 'fun'?
Fun meaning less studying, a little more partying.

I don't think I'd get accom on Daley road, hence I'm applying for UniLodge.

Honestly, neither is going to be excessively active, but if I had to hazard a guess I'd suggest Davey. :)

Thanks for replying! :)
Also, I'd be studying Linguistics, I'm not sure if UniLodge would be near my faculty's buildings? :D

Excited to go over, and travel Australia!

Hi guys,

I'm a prospective ANU student for 2013. I was wondering, which of the catered colleges at ANU have a high domestic/international Asian population?

Thanks

Including non-catered, Unilodge by miles.

Not sure about the catered ones, but l imagine they are quite represented across all of them.

Hi! Just a quick question about UniLodge - is it really as bad as some people make it out to be? What's it currently like?

And also, do all the lodges have TVs in each room? :)

I'm currently at a Unilodge (Davey Lodge), personally I love it. Definitely getting better on the community side this year.
It's one TV per apartment, so studios get their own, but 5 shares have the TV in the common area, etc.
