What happens if you do not know the meaning of a specific word in a question in an English exam?

Are you allowed to ask the supervisor what it means?

learn 2 english. All the words are easy and the rest have footnotes to explain them

If it's really obscure they put a footnote.
For example, once in an english ext.1 exam the question involved 'ignobility' and the footnote explained it as the opposite of nobility. Also in some paper 1s there have been footnotes e.g. I can't remember where, maybe it was last year's belonging paper, there was some photography term for the originals of photos and a footnote explaining it.

Anyway the point is, if you don't understand it and there's no footnote, you will get the mark you deserve.

No you can't, honestly the words are fairly obvious what they mean

umm, the whole point of English is to know...English. I am surprised any of you don't know the meaning of words, especially in year 12. Don't you lads read?

I always understand the words, just never the question.

Like when the question assumes that I agree with what the author is saying and then asks me to elaborate on why I agree - I'm too literal for this crap D:
