It just goes back to the originally point of people shouldn't have a problem with it and the fact a church will not marry a gay couple (If laws allowed) is wrong
Why is it, they don't consider it marriage or acceptable and they shouldn't have to marry them, if they wanna get married and the chuch says no then they get a celebrant or whoever else is allowed to do it.

Actually there is

The reason the state shouldn't be involved in this stuff is because they're prone to forcing others unto their will

So it's possible that religious institutions will be forced to marry homosexual couples against their belief system
That won't happen, religious institutions are too wealthy and most politicians are religious. Unless the belief system of the religion in in question changes they won't marry gays.

Haha for the people who think it's ok. Anyone gay should be killed.
Why? Give us a non-retarded reason.

To the whole Church thingy - I don't think Churches should have to marry gay couples. It should be up to that institution to decide.
Gay marriage should be legal by law and government standards and being a secular government (or supposedly) they shouldn't be able to force this upon religious institutions.
Go get fuckin' Buddhist married. They're all for that shit and the temples are fucking awesome. So the ceremony would be nice and all that shit.

And if laws allowed gay marriage it would be illegal for churches not to marry them because it would be discrimination

I believe catholic schools can still legally refuse teachers that will not sign a contract saying they will not engage in a ''known lifestyle'' contrary to the Catholic ethos and Catholic faith.

Really? That seems a bit dodgy to allow

ANTI-DISCRIMINATION ACT 1977 - SECT 56
Religious bodies
Nothing in this Act affects:
(d) any other act or practice of a body established to propagate religion that conforms to the doctrines of that religion or is necessary to avoid injury to the religious susceptibilities of the adherents of that religion.

Do homosexual teachers pose a risk to pupils?

12% of the men and 4% of the women said that the teacher made sexual advances toward them. A fifth of those with a homosexual teacher said they were influenced to regard homosexuality as socially acceptable; 4% said that the teacher influenced them to try homosexuality. About 1% of the sample reported that, as pupils, they had sexual relations with at least one of their elementary or secondary teachers. Eight respondents reported their first sexual experience was with an elementary or secondary teacher and that one of these experiences was homosexual. Of 49 other reported sexual experiences with teachers, 12 were homosexual.

The findings that homosexuals more frequently claimed to have had homosexual teachers and more frequently reported homosexual sex with teachers tend to fit the contagion model of homosexuality--that homosexuality is taught by or caught by sexual interaction with homosexual practitioners.

Whoops I persumed when the Anti-discrimination act includes discrimination against sex/relations that gay marriage would be included (If legalized)

Honestly though, I would have no respect for any gays that would want to get married in a church regardless of their families traditions etc. Why would you partake in an institution that thinks your way of life is sinful and disgusting.

There are christian denominations that officially approve of homosexual marriage.

well if that's the case then I'm sure that if it were to become legal they would want to be able to marry them too.

Also:
"MARRIAGE ACT 1961 - SECT 47
Ministers of religion not bound to solemnise marriage etc.
Nothing in this Part:
(a) imposes an obligation on an authorised celebrant, being a minister of religion, to solemnise any marriage; or
(b) prevents such an authorised celebrant from making it a condition of his or her solemnising a marriage that:
(i) longer notice of intention to marry than that required by this Act is given; or
(ii) requirements additional to those provided by this Act are observed. "

you're serious?

we'll get there eventually

We shouldn't allow gay doctors because catholic hospitals

We shouldn't allow
We shouldn't force independent systems to comply to shit just because some other person thinks we should

Well, I think marriage should be between a man and a woman. If you want something else of same legal status for gays - then go for it. I'm not saying straight out "LOLNO gays shouldnt be able to get married", I'm saying that gays should be able to have a marriage-like thing, but I think the definition of marriage should stay as a union between a man and a woman.

To be less serious, we can call this equivalent of marriage a "kwyjibo", for example. Gays can have their 'kwyjibo' and heterosexuals can have their marriage, and both are equal - except in name of the actual thing.

There.

Marriage is about love... Not about gender.

Love is the most important thing of all to a marriage. Who's to say that a same-sex couple has a love that is different from a straight couple?

Love is universal.

"But same-sex couples can't have children!"

- Hello?? You're never heard of surrogate mothers?
- Did you know that they can adopt? There are so MANY children in orphanages.
- Raising a child with as a single parent is difficult enough. It is easier for the family unit if there was another partner. It's better to have Mum and a Mum, than to have a single parent.
- A same-sex marriage will have absolutely ZERO effect on a straight marriage.
- In the next ten years, it WILL be legal anyway (because people's opinions change)

"Marriage is between a man and a woman!"
- Realise you have an outdated ideology?
