Most politicians, I would say, have studied law at university... Including our current and former prime minister.

Having said that, apparently Paul Keating didn't study anything lol.. not even tafe.

But of course, a degree ain't the be all and end all in politics. I did my stint in politics, after years and years of wanting to become a politician - didn't feel it was for me, then decided that I'd go into law.

Would it be useful to do law and then straight away go into the finance/commerce industry?

Julia Gillard did law, but KRudd didn't - he did First Class Honours in Arts (Asian Studies).
