What is the raw mark needed to get a Band 5 in Chemistry? I know i am not going to get a band 6 for sure, but i still need a band 5 in chemistry. thanks :smile:

really? out of 100 right. i thought band 5 would be higher than that...lol

Im pretty sure you get scaled down for any subject if you score below 75, thats what teachers say but that doesnt seem right for chemistry or any other hard subjects

Really? I'd say that's a bit low. A Band 6 for Chemistry would be about a 85, so i guess a Band 5 would be around a 70.
wow really 85 for a band 6? That's quite high, i thought it was high 70's like 78

so for trails i got low 70s (very similar to HSC marking) i recon i can improve to low 80s for HSC any possibility of band 5?

if you want a band 5 then dont aim for low 80s. Aim for around 60-75. That's if you want a band 5.

And 85 for a band 6? You're off your head mate

Last year a raw 74 was a 91, 78 was 93 and 86 was 96 (according to that raw mark database a user submitted).

85 is definitely too high, but why not aim there anyway and see how you go.
