If you think we should only be proud of things we have personally achieved, then there would be many depressed people in the world. Only a very small percentage of any population is actually capable of achieving something worthy.

Anyway, it's called identity and tradition. It's not necessarily pride, but an identity that we like to espouse because it makes us feel unique. Everyone does it; it's human nature. Just look at them lebs.
