Because people are afraid of what will happen to them when they die, by telling people to repent to god and he will grant salvation is encoraging people to maintain their christian faith and give comfort for those at the end of their lives ot those in gereal who are affraid they will go to 'hell', it also a way for the Catholic Church to maniputlate money out of people by sayiong that making donations to th church will grant them salvation.

The fallacy of your assertions amuses and frightens me in equal measure.

To be honest I don't really care what anyone does or wears, as long as they are not made to do so against their will. If they want to cover up or whatever then it's obviously their choice and they should be allowed to make that choice in a truly free society.

doctrine of salvation came well before indulgences, and other churches as ancient as the catholic church believe the same doctrines without indulgences (and always have)

it's very hard to determine this
but the main reason for covering up (supplemented by social pressures nowadays among muslim communities) is something that is commanded by the man as he has authority over the woman

God sent himself to earth by impregnating an iron age Palestinian woman with himself so that he could be born and one day be crucified as a sacrifice to himself to save mankind from a hell that he sends us to for crimes he made up, so now we need to get in a room every Sunday to read some books and talk to the ceiling otherwise you burn in hell forever.

TL;DR Christianity

iirc, it just says 'do no work'.

But as we all know, we need a Bible verse!
Luke 4:16 "He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom."

And thanks to Christianity and Catholicism the temple/church system is now on Sunday and operated by an elite army of child molesters headed by a guy who looks like Emperor Palpatine.
