It's been a while since I did maths in High School, so I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take the fundamentals class (MATH1011) in Semester 1, and then do Discrete (MATH1081) and MATH1131 in Semester 2?

Ah, thanks, I didn't see that. Looks like as a Comp Sci student, you have to take MATH1131, and can't do 1011 instead.

You can do 1081 in second semester though, so you don't have to do both 1131 and 1081 at the same time

but you will have to do 1231 and 1081 at the same time. My point being is that you're now accustomed to university maths in second semester so you can do better than doing 2 maths courses at the same time straight into uni

also,

Second semester tests are notoriously easier than first semester

Yep, that's what I'm going to do, try to take it easy with the maths in first semester.

Why are the tests in second semester easier?

I'm not sure, to be perfectly honest. That just seems to be the opinion of many of the students. I can say it is true for some courses.

I don't think that it's possible. MATH1011 and MATH1131 are mutually exclusive, so you only can take one of them.

Look at the excluded section inside the box lol.
More accurately, you can't count both towards your degree. Some students, like the OP do 1011 in S1, 1131 in S2 and 1231 over summer if their maths isn't too hot, but you end up doing an extra course. Best to go and speak to someone in the school of maths for advice on this...but I'd definitely save 1081 until S2 if maths isn't your strength.
