I'm planning to talk to my Extension English 2 teacher tomorrow, and the teacher who marked the other classes speeches!!

I just don't under this : "The thing that is most striking is that: He said.. "your references to techniques within the speech will be marked by the way you say it"? I mean, WTF!!
That was 8 marks - I got 7
I used sophisticated techniques, whereas others used simple techniques like "simile, metaphor..."
Also, the orginisation and development of ideas - same thing! WTF!!
It's under the marking criteria for "Content", so why is it that it was marked as presentation?!!"

If it is content, then it should marked on the basis of the "written content"....

It really doesn't matter what techniques you use. How you explain its meaning and relating back to the question is the crucial part. Markers would not award you extra or give you more privelege depending on the technique that is false.

I think your teacher is right in some way. You just need to work a tad harder :)

I understand that, but what I do not understand is why was he marking my content based on my presentation?
Other teachers marked it differently!! It was also specifically under "Content" on the marking criteria... I have to fight for these 2-3 marks!!
It's a speech. Common sense lol :)

Presentation is obviously crucial lol not just entirely content.

You have to stop referring to other teachers also, this teacher marked your assessment so really focus on his style/preference.

not just techniques, but also how it explores the idea of belonging... Ofcourse the techniques have to relate to the question, and he himself said that I have done that. but he said "Marked based on how you say it during the speech" :(

What if he marks the assessment task unfairly as well? Then, I doomed right? :|
If it's written essay task or you have any sought of evidence, then take it to head teacher for english or some other Advanced english teachers and try to resolve it like that if you belive the marking was unfair.

But really I've never seen a teacher mark unfairly in the hsc, teachers are here to give you the highest marks possible!!!!!!

I guess, but he himself said, "I'm focusing predominantly on the content, not the presentation as such"
and another thing: I did my speech 2 days before everyone! Apparently, the others were provided with an extra 30 seconds for the speech, as opposed to 4:00 mins for me!!

I have no idea what you are saying, but really sorry to hear you're a bit upset. I think the chances of you gaining extra marks is minimal, just try your hardest now on.

Okay.

I have used sophisticated techniques, linking them back to the notion of belonging, the theme explored (in the paragraph) and the question. He said that he has marked the 'techniques' on the basis of how we present (say) it during the speech. It's absurd!!

^ wow lol.

I think you're being a bit biased though.. I mean it's your speech, you can't judge whether it is worthy of the highest marks. However, either way, just work harder in your next assignment. It's just a few marks, you'll be fine there is no need to stress. Also it's up to your English teacher to decide what he thinks is the best speech.

Stop having a cry... get over it lol. You can't succeed in the HSC with such a childish attitude you like that, you need to let go of the past and start getting stronger. Especially if you're aiming for 99+.
People couldn't care less if you did all those things or not. The teacher has given you a final mark already and really there is limited you can do, also the mark intervals are small. I'll reiterate for the final time, JUST STUDY HARDER AND ENSURE YOU COME 1ST NEXT ASSESSMENTS AND EXAMS!!!

Really I was in the same condition as you, I was ranked 3rd by half yearlies. I just worked harder and eventually in the end I came 1st for English. So yeah follow this path.

Stop whining on bos and go do some stuff for your hsc :)

Yes, don't despair or give up. What's happened has happened.
Now there are still more assessments to go, so go and ace them!

The head teacher marked my paper again, and apparently, the content was so cohesive and competent, that I received a 22.5/25:)
