I was thinking, instead of paying $5000/term for 13 years, wouldn't your kid benefit more if you put the same amount of money into an investment portfolio and gave it to him when he finishes year 12? I mean private schools aren't actually any different from public schools, same curriculum same standard of teaching etc, just cosmetic differences like buildings and uniforms

Like, if you care that much about sport and music and whatnot it's pretty easily (and cheaply) done outside school, lol
wouldn't your kid benefit more if you just sent them to the mines

Also I guess you send your kid to a public school if you don't care about them
Or a private if you kinda care about your kid but actually care more about climbing that corporate ladder/breaking ceilings etc than imparting sound principles upon your progeny

Conversely, save the dosh and send them to a public school if you feel comfortably engaged and capable of imparting said principles upon your beloved children

I've been to both public and private schools and I think a lot of the time, many people ask me 'Why waste all your money in a private school when you can get a tutor for half the price and get good marks?' Well, that's mutiny. Yes, there are many people who believe that private schools are a waste of money and they're totally obliged to think that because there are some people who just don't like the sort of money involved.

However, I feel personally that I would rather be better suited in a private school for my own reasons and I believe I made a right decision going to one in the City. So the reality is, there shouldn't be a better school because obviously, everybody sways to either Public or Private and really, it's just the person's preference that matters in the end. Sure, people think private school are overrated and public schools breed terrible people but the reality is that there are always going to be terrible people in any school you go to and people's biased stereotypes of different kinds of schools shouldn't affect your decision. Because it is you alone, who decides which type of school is BEST for you.

child labour laws are ruining this country
ahah nice one

but yeah i agree that kids with IQs of 80 should be forced to attend school for 11 years so teaching them algebra and essay writing can be attempted
kids need a well rounded education

For me it really doesn't matter if it's a private or public....i depends on the instructors and how the institution manage their school,.

you don't send you kid to a private school for the instructors (though as teaching becomes the fallback career for arts graduate dullards this will become more important), you do it to keep them away from kids who attend public school

Im joking , public schools are good too. Just be thankful that you have the opportunity to go to school.

But to the benders above who say that public schools are better than private; don't be jealous of what you can't have you mutts. Both my parents went to public schools, and both got over 99.70 equivalent which would fuck everyone on this thread, in their rims.

Apart from them, the only memorable things to come out of the Public Schooling system, have been a rise in the teen pregnancy rate, and an increase in the prevalence of Clamydia.

I go to a public school and i consider myself a pretty nice and high achieving student. The only reason i went to a public school was because it was close to home. Nether the less, I wouldn't be able to afford the fees for private school anyway :). If were up to me, i would choose to go to a selective private school - but I guess it's too late now! Guess i'll have to look forward picking the university of my choice.

Public Selective School + Tutoring > Private School
Are public selective schools like a couple steps below home school in terms of producing socially handicapped humans who can't take a joke and fall to pieces as soon as someone bullies them or gives them a hard time

public selectives are just public schools with a lower population of dickheads / higher population of high achievers

afaik (sister goes to one) they are both pretty much the same and they dont seem to be overly sheltered and what not
