so yeah, i'm actually preparing for a bridging course at the moment and the assumed knowledge is year 10 maths.

can any students studying year 10 maths (advanced) tell me if functions are taught in year 10 advanced maths? if so, to what degree?

thanks ! :D

We learned them towards the end of the year. It was one of the optional topics I believe and not all that detailed. Do not worry, something as crucial as functions should be touched upon in the course.

Functions and Logarithms (also functions/graphs in Curve Sketching) is an option topic for Year 10. I did functions in Year 10, in fact I did all the option topics at my old school in Year 10 but 90% of schools do not do the option topics in Year 10 (circle geometry, polynomials and curve sketching, and functions and logarithms). My teacher raced ahead and tried teaching us the basics of differentiation and integration in Year 10 as well...

In general, functions are NOT taught in Year 10!

I think it might be in the 5.3 section of the syllabus. I remember learning them in Year 10. (circle geometry, polynomials and curve sketching, and functions and logarithms)

Functions as in f(x) = etc etc are taught in Year 10.

However, strict definitions such as 1 to 1 functions etc are not taught in Year 10.

Yea you learn a bit about functions. I learnt how to identify relations and functions. Drew some functions graphs with domain and range, and did some polynomial graphs. That's pretty much it from my year 10 notes.
