Ok so i'm in year 12 and just looking for some people with knowledge about an atar.

My subjects are English standard, maths general, geography, legal studies, pdhpe

Any idea how well I would have to go in each subject to get around an 80 ATAR??

And what is the correlation between your marks and your final ATAR?

Thanks guys

To get 80 ATAR if you did the test in 2009, you would need:

English - 79.8 , General maths - 82.6, Geography - 82.2, Legal Studies - 82.6, PD/H/PE - 82.2

Percentile - Eng Std - 90.9%, Gen Maths - 82.7%, Geo - 71.5%, Legal Studies 70.7%, PD/H/PE - 77.6%

Marks vary though this should give a rough estimate.

I'm sorry but what is percentile?

What percentage should I aim for in every assignment/exam?

just to clarify, the "English - 79.8 , General maths - 82.6, Geography - 82.2, Legal Studies - 82.6, PD/H/PE - 82.2" are they raw HSC marks or after scaled?

after aligned

Percentile is how you place in comparison to the state.
E.g. to get a 79.8 its standard , you have to be in the 90.8th percentile of the state or in other words the top 9.2% of the state

Your raw percentages dont count for much, its your ranks which count. I would be aiming for a final mark of low-mid 80's in your subjects in order to get around 80.

Agreed, as your subjects don't scale particularly well and so therefore every mark you lose, there will be a much bigger impact on your ATAR.
