Should I do standard or advanced english? (1 Viewer)

I'm currently doing standard english, but i'm thinking of moving up. This week is the last week to do so but i'm not sure if i should!

I got 92 (B6) in the school certificate last year and for assessments I usually get B's or C's
Assessment task 1: 17/20
Assessment task 2: 14/25
Assessment task 3: 14/20
Assessment task 4: 18/25
Yearly (Trial SC): 76/90

Should I be doing standard or advanced english?!

P.S. I do not enjoy english at all. It's my worst subject

Sc results are not reflectant of your HSC at all.
If you are passionate about English, go for advanced since you will have to dedicate a wee little 0.25 seconds extra. (Hyperbole intended.)

Well from what i have heard, advanced isn't that much harder then standard, but aligns MUCH better. and your sc mark is pretty good so i say do advanced.

Give advanced a try ! If you can't cope you can move back to Standard?

I got 83 in SC English and I'm doing Advanced and Ext 1 English....
You got 92 in SC English which is a heaps good mark so seriously consider doing at least Adv English...

I know SC English holds little value to how good you actually are in English (due to the exams having multiple choice) but judging from your results, you are definitely capable of advanced!
Who knows? You could be suitable for Ext 1 Eng as well!

Yup, I only got 89 (SC) and I'm doing Advanced (Not that SC really matters), but definitely do it if you feel that you're capable, and have the desire and passion to put the work in to do well at it.

Then there is all the extra benefits of alignment etc for something that isn't much harder than Standard. So 100% yes!

Just adding to what everyone else has said, if you do choose to move up, but find that you are struggling, ask your teacher. Most will be happy that you have questions and hopefully they will be experienced in teaching the HSC and be able to give you some good advice.

I got 64% and 69% respectively for my half-yearly and yearly report in year 10 for English. I hated the subject as well.

However everything can change, when you put in the effort. There isn't a disclaimer saying just because you didn't well in year 10, you can't pwn the grade in year 11.
