I hate to sound like the lazy student who is complaining about having to learn religion. But i've been looking at the syllabus and there really isn't anything to guide me. This is completely the opposite of the legal studies and business studies syllabus which states what thing you can outline, describe and assess plus key words that or terminology that you need, the studies of religion 1 syllabus actually is able to repeat it self for each section. I then come in to class which now has been reduced to once a week (seriously) we don't do anything in class and the teacher really struggles to summarise or get a to key point with most topics, most of the lectures are discussions purely to waste time (the last 3 weeks of term consisted of youtube videos) its not like English where the discussion actually forms as my response like highlighting the metaphor of this can lead to a critique of that author's context then a terminology catalyst is given to us. Before assessment time for other classes its actually much easier to piece together a response because its in the text book and its in listed well on the syllabus.

I really feel like i am walking at night in a mine field with no map or flash light to guide the way. I thought i just was not trying hard enough but its hard to even put notes together here, there is basically no home work what so ever and the teacher i am pretty sure is struggling more than in other classes to teach it (but its not like in chemistry where thats only because the course is just over loaded and require a lot of preparation).
If i did not find comfort in having 12 units i would had seriously considered dropping down to catholic studies altogether.

But then Studies of Religion 2 kids seem to be having a blast in the class even though they have to do more assessments and quote scripture passages and their syllabus is pretty much the same. But then they get triple the amount of time we get so they have time to get help on their assessments and get some help, what we get in Studies of religion 1 is 3 periods a weeks but one is an offline which means there is no teacher (so basically we have 2 periods).

I think its just me soz for the rant, i don't exactly find it boring or oppose religion i just find the course is sub-par and well just point less.

Really? It's a breeze and our teacher is funny as hell, too.
didn't say it was hard. said it was shit. I got a band 6 in it haha.
however, religion and peace is just rape. its so broad it makes me want to kill myself! :( in the end i got 18/20 for that essay, but the 2011 question for it was really easy in comparison to other years.

wait. you're a prelim. everything is a breeze in year 11! (ancient religions is shit by memory)

It is a stupid subject, but it was probably initiated to placate all the religious schools in Sydney which would have wanted a religious course which actually counted towards the HSC. However, it isnt very difficult and I found to be excellent as a backup unit.
