We have got maths (2u+3u) exams coming up and since we are really behind the syllabus, all past papers have a lot of stuff we can't do.
So when people say study past papers; they dont really help that much ... what would be a good way to study?

Study past papers = Pull out questions you CAN do, then do them. You need not do the whole paper.

Also, if there's not enough questions you can do in the past papers you can always just do questions from the textbook. If you've finished all the questions in your textbook try and find another textbook (most school libraries have copies of at least one maths textbook, or even excel/success one books) and do questions from that.

Do as many questions as possible, there's only a limited amount of ways they can ask the same question.

For example, my MX1 class got given a practice circle geo test today, and I've done half of the questions in it before(exactly the same).

Unfortunately, there are no real study secrets with maths. Practice makes perfect, so do as many past paper questions as possible. Also, try doing mock exams with the past papers (you could try putting together a mock exam using questions from different papers), so you can work on your time management and accustom yourself to the exam. If your struggling with the work or struggling to remember it, then work through the textbook before heading onto past questions.
