Affordable (fantastic?) New laptop ideas. (1 Viewer)

So i'm about to inherit $500 off a scholarship and am thinking in investing it into buying a new laptop

Currently i am using: Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 (AKA piece of sh**)

So, i was just wondering, what are the best laptops on the market that i will get a good run out of i.e. Throughout the rest of year 12 and well into my uni years.

I plan to mainly use the laptop for normal school formatting, as well as videos/movies and music. I would prefer it to be quiet portable (light and long battery life) and somewhat stylish.

Most importantly however, I don't want it to break the bank, so i'm looking to spend <$900 (a bit more if it's really worth it)

Any suggestions please?

(I'm not computer illiterate, however, choosing is really hard and i want to pick right.)

A ThinkPad Tablet is your best option or any IBM Lenovo. You will have to order it overseas and get it shipped in unless you wanna pay $1000+ locally. Only Apple and IBMs really get long battery life. Rest you're looking at <3 hours

I have an ASUS U31F for around that price.

It works very well and I love the 10hrs+ battery life.

Also very light.

So you want a laptop to bring to uni as well as use at home? Might try looking at an Ultrabook or maybe some from the... *sigh* Macbook range.

What I have is a main laptop at home - a Toshiba Satellite - and then a smaller netbook for uni that I use there only.

They are a laptop. They convert into a tablet by folding and the screen rotates 360 degrees.
