Hi Guys,

I am currently doing these subs:

English Advanced
Maths Ext 1
Chemistry
Business Studies
French Continuers
French Extension

half yearlies have started and my ext maths exam is next Monday. Now the thing is, we have finished the 2u course, but we havent even started the 3u HSC topics (the right hand column). I am feeling the workload increase in maths, and last assessment mark was about 74%, and year 11 yearly was 84%. I am starting to consider dropping it for a few reasons:

1. my marks are not too good
2. very time consuming, and my other subjects are quite demanding
3. we have completed the 2u course, so I could just do revision for the rest of the year and focus on maximising my 2u marks)

But I am worried that it may have some impact upon my atar, because of the scaling benefits of ext 1 maths, meaning I'll have to do even better in my other subs. Any advice?!?!

Cheers

Don't give up on MX1 - I am sure you can improve those marks (if you scrapped pass 80% in Preliminary then you can definitely improve now! You have a few months left). Good Luck.

Do subjects you like, as you will tend to do better in them.

That said, keep MAths ext 1 if you find it ok, as a good result will boost your atar substantially.

Sorry I don't really have much else to contribute besides what has been said above but I was just thinking, that is a really weird way of doing MX1... I do 4U but I attend 2u, 3u and 4u classes but I don't learn 2u content in 3u... If that makes sense.
