Alright i c what about for uni?You need to tailor it to the context/circumstances. Generic lines don't cut it.
e.g. if you were looking at a picture of (or an actual) polar bear, you can use the what's a polar bear good for...
icic +repStart off with a "Hey" follow it up with a convo such as,
"Is this your first year?"
"Which subjects are you doing?"
"Where do you live?" (might want to wait a bit for this one - depends on how it's going).
"How're you finding it?"
"This lecturer sure is terrible isn't he (she)"
etc... once you get it started just continue it and after the first time it'll make it a lot less awkward and you wont even realise that you're making total random conversations without even trying (like you do normally with your friends).
