Aye, but you didn't buy it. Your parents bought it.

Why an ix35 over the alternatives? What was the appeal?
Yeah sorry, I have to thank parents alot for this car. So I guess, it's their car not mine.

I like four wheel drives (Also recommended by father), and was offered $30,000-$40,000 range by him.

Choices were Kia Sportage, Mazda CX 5, Honda CRV and the ix35 Highlander.

IX35 had the best features (worth the value), appearance wise it was best in my opinion and the 2012 model was in stock so I decided to go with it. It was good value for the money. Also, It's Korean :)

Fair enough.

I just think it's really weird to prefer a 4WD over another style of car in the same price range.

Already have a hatchback and Sedan in the family garage, so decided to go a bit unique and get a 4WD for the family. Family wanted a 4WD anyway haha so yeah why not, I hate small cars also :p

IX 35 highlander, is actually quite good for the value also. Half the price if not way cheaper and has the same specs as those flashy European/Expensive 4WD's.

3.25i is very smooth car , I drive it often here and there maybe once a week (Mother's car). But yeah for me the value isn't worth it...

Out of that selection I'd go for the 325i as well but the IS250, whilst not my choice of car, is the facelifted model and isn't too shabby either. It saddens me to think that my car in a few years will be in that price bracket too.

list seems interesting, maybe though.

What about a new one in that price range?

Sub $40k is a good segment but until BRZ/86 comes out, there's nothing there which really screams must have for the generation which would've (in years gone by) bought an Integra.

I wish we got the hyundai genesis coupe in Australia.

I've never read the reviews, but on paper it looks good, rwd, turbo 4 or 3.8 V6, priced below the BRZ/86.

The Hyundai coupe look very aggressive IRL and isn't too bad a looker but until I drive one, I'll hold off on judging it.

Speaking of Hyundai, saw a Veloster at uni the other day. Managed to turn some heads. Looks a little better IRL.

Apparently it doesn't drive as sporty as it looks in reviews.

Veloster is pretty good in terms of appearance, Hyundai did a very good with it. Although, again the price is pretty big and also yeah the driving isn't as smooth. I went on one in Korea for a test drive, it was very squashy also :(...
