To be honest, I think you have some serious self-esteem issues if you're 'butthurt' about the rep being removed.

Find better ways of self validation apart from little bars of colours.

And maybe the people who are crying over it being removed have no real reputation outside the site and so rely on this one to make them feel reputable.

In my rep history i had 12,000 neg reps and about 17,000+ positive reps.

So I ended up with 4 bright green bars.

People didn't get circle-jerked into winning such things. We need some form of recognition, but I don't think rep is the best way of doing.

I'm not saying that all people with gold (or more) rep didn't deserve it. I am saying that there were some people who 'earned' it undeservingly.

Some people contribute large amounts and have little rep. Some people contribute nothing and have lots of rep.
