It has a mixture of good and bad things.

Good- cheaper for Aussies who are travelling overseas and buying things from overseas.

Bad- Maybe if you're a Business trying to sell your products overseas, you want to maintain competitiveness and that rising dollar is going to affect it.

Why don't you support local industries
I do support local shops within reason. If retailers like Gerry Harvey jack up prices though (and have bad customer service) then no, I will buy the same product from oversea.

As for car manufacturers, if they can't survive in Australia without the government propping them up, then they shouldn't survive.

Went to a retailer, that I will refrain from naming and asked for a camera quote. $700. Exact same camera with free shipping off the internet for $414. There is no way I'm going to support a retailer just because they're Australian when they're demanding ridiculous markups. Supply and demand is a beautiful thing.

The australian dollar is actually falling rapidly in value relative to the bitcoin.

This makes Australian dollars a less attractive investment than bitcoin, as holders of Australians dollars see their wealth deteriorate, driven by fear they will rush to convert their remaining AUD to bitcoin, which has a compounding effect, leading to a runaway situation of ever increasing bitcoin value and depreciating Australian dollar.

There will be a transitional period of economic instability as resistant vendors adapt to trading in bitcoin rather than AUD, but ultimately the resultant bitcoin economy will be substantially more efficient than the AUD it replaces.

I have actually looked at the bitcoin market before and purchased bitcoins in order to purchase goods, although would I invest in the bitcoin economy? No as I don't trust it.

You can't bitch and moan about Qantas sending jobs offshore and then buy products from other countries because they're cheaper, it's the summit of hypocrisy.
It is not hypocrisy at all. Qantas is a company that deserves to go bankrupt.
