- Definitely the campus life. UNSW might be reputable for what it teaches, but it's also reputable for being a kickass party university. I know that several famous bands (such as Paramore and Yellowcard) have performed at UNSW in the past.

- The people! I just started studying at UNSW this semester, and I'm blown away by how nice people are. If you look lost, they'll actually help you out! Back in my home country, they basically treated you like you were air and, well, crap that got stuck at the bottom of their shoes.

Dislikes:
- Yuppers, distance is definitely a dislike for me. I live just 15 minutes away from UNSW, but I wish that UNSW was actually in the city and not a 20 minute bus ride away from it. =/

- How they're out there to take your money and piss on it. We're not moneybags. >__>;

Likes:
- Wi-Fi
- Timetabling system (seriously the best thing, do not overlook this)
- Size of the campus (always a place to study with a fantastic internet connection)
- Bars on campus are great during the day or on Mon-Wed nights (I'm not big on crowds)
- Unigym is an excellent gym (a bit spenno, but actually cheaper than nearby gyms that probably don't even feature the same level of equipment/staff)
- Societies are great (but that's not unique to UNSW)
- We do the best O-Week by far

Dislikes
- Some buildings don't get a decent Wi-Fi connection (ASB)
- Travel times (I live 2~ hours away)
- The line for the buses in the morning during the first few weeks of Semester 1
- There are some courses in my degree that are utterly useless and shit me to tears
- The basement asians in my school/faculty (100% bound to be at other universities as well)

I really appreciate the responses! :)

Is it really that difficult to go to UNSW? I am planning to live around Surry Hills :)

What do you mean by "Basement Asians" ?

Also, when do I get a list of subjects that I am required to take and the schedule of subjects?

Then that will be like a 15 to 25 minute bus ride depending on which part of Surry Hills.

Which part of Surry Hills would be most convenient to live in? :)

Also, would riding a bike from Surry Hills to UNSW be too difficult?

The further up Foveaux street the better

Nah it should be great

A basement asian is someone who is generally of the "geekier" type. They often browse such places as reddit and 9gag. Most of their conversations are about video games, memes or how terrible they are. Their mannerisms are superbly annoying and they have a distinct disregard for the mental health of those around them. Trust me, you'll know the type if you come across it. The term does not necessarily pertain specifically to those of asian heritage. In fact, the group I was referring to is primarily white.

You can check out your subjects at the UNSW handbook: http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/2013/index.html

Not only ASB, but quadrangle, science theatre and red center are horrible in terms of internet connections :/

Also, is it better to enrol in a small class (24 students) or big class (120 students)?

I have a weird question.. What time does it Uni start and is it the same for everyone? If not what's the start time for Med and what time do people generally leave just out of interest xD
