Re: The Nonsense Thread

Do you need to know everything in year 10 maths to survive year 11 maths lol
Nope - I sucked very hard at year 10 maths. Maybe just simple algebra and some probability?

Re: The Nonsense Thread

I had written examinations for PDHPE at the end of the year, it's normal.
I remember it was based on driving and drinking/drugs. Had to memorise a bunch of stats and stuff but should be easy.

Commerce - Just know your definitions and you can bs your way through the rest,
French - uhhh... lol... yeah, just memorise.
Math - Just do questions from your textbook. Every single one of them. Memorise all the formulas so you dont forget them.
English - Short answers, creative writing/essay practise.
Science - Study the textbook. Don't memorise everything, just the basic key stuff from each topic.
PDHPE - mainly bs but just know your definitions and stuff.
IST - wut? i only had assignments for IST. again definitions.
History - again memorise. know how to write a history essay. dates + quotes from historians or sum shit for evidence. PEEL applies.
Geography - Know your geography skills.. skills make up a lot of the test, memorise again when it comes to short answers, know how to write a geography essay... stats makes your essays look smexy...

HFKSDJFHSKJDFH kill me lol

but oh my god that is so much to study in one week how the hell omg.

Maths yes. Every other sub no.

Except for things like statistics but I've always viewed maths as a pyramid- you need the building blocks at the bottom to get full marks at the top

You can't be srs...
I mean in 2u you learn probability trees and that crap - nothing too strenuous.

You should be at least decent in year 10 maths to survive year 11 though. I was just never any good at year 10 maths

Re: The Nonsense Thread

Don't worry Fawun, I know the pain of not being naturally smart.

Makes it harder for us to wing it for exams :(

But just memorise as much as you can. That's all you can do.

Also, memorise smartly and effectively (i.e. memorise what needs to be memorised so definitions, formulas and statistics)

So I won't need statistics in year 11? WOOOOT.

The maths topics that I hate the most in order are:

1. Probability
2. Consumer Arithmetic
3. Coordinate Geometry
4. Simultaneous Equations (tbh I only know how to do the sub method not the elimination method ha)
5. Deductive Geometry
6. Statistics

Ones that I like in order:

1. Polynomials
2. Quadratics
3. Graphs like parabolas, etc.
4. Trig
5. Logs
6. Circle Geo

The rest are all bs imo.

Probability is easy once you get used to it.

No stats in 2u or higher.
Geometry in high school is painful (except circle geometry) - ESPECIALLY COORDINATE GEOMETRY
Consumer Arithmetic is also painful
Simultaneous Equations... they're alright. I personally like the elimination method - you might like it more if you do elimination because... substitution's a *****

I know right  People like Demento, Deswa etc are all naturally smart

But I can't memorise all 9 subjects are you kidding me does my brain look like it can hold that much info?

You're the one doing 4U?

I agree.
You're a bitch. Substitution > Elimination method by far. That's probably because I can't do the elimination method lol. Also, is it bad if I don't know how to do long division? Srs.

Rip them up in year 11 & 12 haha. When I mean never any good, I meant that I only scored like ~80%. My high standards :p

2x + 2389562378562375623y = 5
7x - 2389562378562375623y = 4

substitution method that

Coordinate geometry is fun.

It doesn't matter for ordinary numbers because you can just use your calc. You'll learn how to long divide for polynomials and thats important to learn. And yes, substitution>elimination

I can never rip them up... were talking about international students here bro. ~80%? I'd be cheering and praising da alm1ghty lawd if I get 80%. I get an average around 75% in my tests, majority of the class get <50% and then theres the international students who get 100%...

Yeah I already know how to divide for polynomials - that's easy but like I don't know how to use long division for ordinary numbers that's all. Do you know both the sub and elim method?

no

7x - 2389562378562375623y = 4

Never had to deal with any international students before although I do know my cousin who came to Australia a few years ago totally destroyed 3/4u maths since she learnt it ages ago in Vietnam haha.
