That's what I did first, then I redid the question ....

I got 1/2 ln (u) - ln (u^2 + 1) from 1 to e^2 (did someone get this?)

I got that LOL

1/2 integral 2e^2x / e^2x + 1

=1/2 ln (e^2x + 1)

You forgot to include the limits

the numerator is the derivative of the denominator... .5 log (e^2x + 1). then sub in limits
