Bachelor of Science General questions (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, im doing a bachelor of science/education, and wanted to double major in both Chemistry and Biology so I can teach both, i would have to do a summer program for two subjects to do this. (I need to do 4 chem subjects, but currently only doing 2)
However through experience, my teachers at school never taught bio&chem or chem&bio or bio&physics at the same time, does that mean im kinda wasting my time doing the double major?
Also is there a way i can in the future come back to uni, and complete the only 2 second year chem courses to teach chemistry?
Is this useless, or should i go for it?

I'm not sure if your 'wasting' your time completing a double major, that's your opinion.

In terms of coming back to uni in the future and completing 2 subjects...well if those subjects are a requirement for your bachelor's degree, you have to do them now.

Nahh theyre not a requirement, theyre just needed for those doing a double major

I dont know any teachers that teach both chem and bio or chem and physics etc

i know teachers who teach two subjects - and was in one faculty for a certain period of time (a few years) and moved to another faculty later on

You can teach both subjects anyway I believe? You would do the method courses for both anyway. So a major and a minor would be enough.
In my HSC, I had the same teacher for chemistry and biology. She had a biology major. Still taught both.

Also, I asked to have a double major in my Arts degree and the university said no even though it was my time I would be extending. They said with the education degree you cannot do it. It is not a timetabling issue apparently.

In New South Wales high schools teachers typically teach general science (all four sciences) from years 7-10 and specialise in one of the sciences at Senior level (Year 11-12). All major streams listed above qualify students to teach a least one science at senior level. Some major streams qualify students to specialise in more than one science. If students wish to qualify in an additional specialisation they should complete at least 4 courses in that science. For example, students who complete a major stream in Chemistry can also be qualified in Biology if they complete at least 4 Biology courses. Open electives can be used to achieve this goal."
I'd still have to do the four courses, meaning the summer program i would do the two education courses :/
It would work if i chose biochem, but i dont want to do biochem lol.
