Re: Semester 2 USYD Chatter Thread 2013

I would like to also point out that demonising men in this way is avoiding the issue of women child sex offenders being underreported.

The attitude towards women as instigators of sexual abuse has been relatively lax in the public domain (with the whole "good on you" attitude, where you should be proud that you got laid) and I think the whole 'men are bad' thing is ignoring a hidden issue.

Statistically, people of ethnic background are more likely to commit bank robbery than people of Caucasian background.

Therefore, banks should implement rules that disallow people of ethnic background from entering the banks.

Good on you Commonwealth Bank *thumbs up*.
Good on the Commonwealth Bank, about time they implemented this.

Re: Semester 2 USYD Chatter Thread 2013

I'm taking it your issue is that it assumes men are more likely to be sexual predators of some sort? Statistically it's true that men are more likely to be sexual predators, so if this is a mechanism that has been put in place to protect children, good on those airlines.
If you go by that kind of argument then it's effectively the same as saying let's ban Muslims from going on a plane because statistically they're more likely to be a terrorist (or engage in violent criminal behaviour) or let's ban women from joining the army because statistically they don't have the same physical capabilities as the men. You oppose any negative generalisations about women (which you have every right to do so), yet you support a policy that is based on a negative generalisation of men.

Because bank robbery is as bad as paedophilia.
Statistically most people who deliberately crash planes into towers are Muslim. Therefore we shouldn't allow muslims on planes or near towers.

like any other sexually active person blood banks should do a blood analysis... there are other STD's that are nasty besides HIV.
You should email the red cross and tell them this.

HIV can be present in blood and transmissible, but not detectable, for up to 6 months after initial infection. For this reason, most blood banks refuse blood from anyone who has engaged in msm, injecting drug ,use, or sex with a prostitute, within the past 12 months.

There are people who complain about this discrimination, because it's possible to practice msm sex or injecting drug use with low or zero risk of HIV transmission, yet they are still discriminated against.

You know when you're playing basketball with your friends and a girl wants to join in so she can 'play with the guys' and you let her on your team because its not a serious game or anything, and when you lose because she can't shoot or dribble or pass or even have the ball without losing possession you tell her good job or good try or whatever but then your mates on the other team give you shit for losing and your like bro seriously and they're like we're kidding we get it-

The army isn't a game and if you die because some feminist on a power ride can't do her job as well as a man could but she's allowed in anyway because of 'sexual equality' that is the exact opposite of equality, and guess what you're dead.

While women are subject to a more lenient set of fitness requirements to enter the defence force, wouldn't the suitability of a role on the front line disregard gender but rather the overall competency of the candidate?

I don't know what pre-checks they do for blood donations so I don't think I'm in any place to comment.
you fill out a form
If you're good on the form
Then free blood

But it's the same thing
Governments aren't gonna risk someone getting HIV for political correctness
Just like ~private~ airlines should be allowed to prevent their child passengers from getting sexually assaulted.

Silly me, forgot if two things are different then it makes one of those things completely redundant. Kind of like genders isn't it?
saying bank robbery is akin to paedophilia isn't gr8 doe
One is a crime against a person and one is a crime to gain money and shit and etc.
they aren't similar enough

If you go by that kind of argument then it's effectively the same as saying let's ban Muslims from going on a plane because statistically they're more likely to be a terrorist (or engage in violent criminal behaviour) or let's ban women from joining the army because statistically they don't have the same physical capabilities as the men. women aren't allowed in frontline combat though, are they?

Statistically most people who deliberately crash planes into towers are Muslim. Therefore we shouldn't allow muslims on planes or near towers.
that happens less often than paedophilia though
And there are other safeguards to stop that now.

also, you can get HIV from hetero sex

There a less direct ways of being responsible for death through incompetency.

Nice. You assume all women are incompetent with anything remotely physical? As with anything, if someone makes the cut for the front line, surely they make the cut and their gender doesn't matter?

On what basis do you think women are more likely to be incompetent in the defence force?

No. You assume that I assume.

A single case of someone dying as a result of an incompetent woman being giving a job she can't handle is bad enough. The implications of the assumption you mentioned are absolutely atrocious.
I would say that 95%+ of australian deaths would be due to incompetent women in that case.

And like I said, it's not about frontline jobs. It's about in general; women being given special treatment, ironically, in an effort to treat them equally, and the potentially terrible consequences.

You flat out said that women are incompetent.
Of course if someone isn't fit for the front line, you wouldn't put them there. But if someone IS fit enough and they happen to be female why does that matter?

And do you have any actual examples of women being given 'special treatment'?
