Hey :) Im currently coming 6/52 in general maths and I find the course fairly easy. Should I move up to 2 unit maths in year 12? or have i missed out on way to much to start that late?
Any help is appreciated! thank you

NO. Do not move up. It is nothing like the General course.
The concepts are very different.

If you're getting above 85 in all your exams STAY. Get a Band 6. Aim for Rank 1.

I don't think it is allowed anyway.

Its a bit late to move to 2U, and as people mentioned above, the 2U course is different to the general course. Rank 1 in general all the way buddy!

You need to do a certain amount of hours for the hsc for any subject, if you don't, you do not meet these requirements, as so much time has already passed, you can't move .

Quick question; if you're required to do a certain amount of hours for a subject, why are people allowed to drop for 2U to General?

You can drop but not move up. I don't think it's got to do with hours, more so because of the work.

I guess because dropping to a lower level maths is just basic fundamentals. Besides the odd few chapters, the majority of the general course is considered assumed knowledge in the 2u and above courses. We don't necessarily need to put in the hard yards of hours by dropping to a lower standard, but definitely need to if moving up.

Don't bother unless you pick up an extension unit.

Also, can people stop referring to standard math as advanced math?
4U is advanced math, 2U is the standard level of maths.

Advanced math differentiates General from '2U' as they're both '2U'

^ So true! The only reason why people call it 'advanced maths', is because that is what the Board has named the course lol :p

unless you enrol in 2U maths in tafe at the start of the year. Then you can drop general maths.

I know this girl who did 2u throughout year 11 and at year 12, she did the 3unit through tafe.
