Depends on what you mean by memorising..

Do you mean the whole essay? Or just the general ideas (ie. techniques, quotes)?

All I did for trials was memorise techniques, quotes and general ideas which I was going to write about. It worked for me.

Not memorising whole essays but obviously have topic sentences, textual references, ideas that I have used lots of times and am familiar with

Nope, only going to memorise techniques and quotes, as well as points.

of the 10% of people who get B6 for english 90% memorise
Don't kid yourself and think you can write a better essay in the spot than people who memorise brilliant essays (the majority of which are written by tutors).

Those who memorise essays and don't even adapt them to the question................. well thats a whole new issue

Citation needed. I'm definitely not going to do it. Memories techniques, themes, quotes sure; but not an entire, generic essay.

An essay written on the spot is as good as the first draft of a generic essay.

How good was your first draft?

I do standard, but I consider myself to write okay on the spot

97/105 for trials - might've been marked easy, who knows...
