i've done a physics quiz which determined whether who will stay and go because there are too many in our class 30+.
Unfortunately i didn't do well as i expected and was in the last 8 with a mark of 25/40( 2 people have failed and are definitely going). i enjoy physics because it's an intriguing subject along with the other 8 who don't want to leave as well. Advice please =(.

Prove to your teacher tha you want to stay and improve your marks.

if you can't understand it then it would be beneficial to let it go (provided you have 12 prelim units) rather than just carry it with poor marks, IMO

What topic was the physics quiz on and what type of mistakes are you making? Are you making mistakes because you genuinely don't understand the concepts or were they mostly silly mistakes?

Well i reckon the marking was strict because for one question there was a compression wave can i had to convert it into a sine wave but i didnt get the mark because my sine wave wasnt in sequence of the compression wave above like it wasn't accurate. Another reason is that i didnt write my units after i finished my calcuations, another question told me to draw 2 complete waves but i drew 3 lost a mark there..... i understand the concept i just didnt know the marking was this strict.

I think a very important thing you should gain from having completed this quiz is the importance to read the question very carefully and answer the requirements of the question as closely as possible. From your description, I think the marking would not be called strict, but would be better termed as strong marking standards, not writing units in any answer would result in a lost of marks-often it is a part of the marking criteria, and drawing 3 waves when question ask you to draw 2 is showing you have not read the question carefully enough. Make sure in the future you read questions much more closely to make sure you don't lose some well-deserved marks.

dont let one quiz decide ur future. be persistent. SHOW that you DO belong in that class

If the class is full and they have allowed extra students to start with the clear understanding that everyone's continued position in the class was dependent on that quiz and you are one that has to go there really isn't a lot you can do - safety has to come first in a Science class as do the working conditions of the teacher (and one extra student does add quite a lot to the work load of a teacher). If you are at a department school there is even less leeway than at a private school.
