yeah I agree, it helps me when I write on paper/book.. and I'm going to write anyways during exams.

Writing with pen and paper forces you to engage with the content of the lecture, because you have to be selective in what you write down.

If you're worried about your perfectionism getting in the way, use shitty paper and re-write and summarise your notes later on in a more permanent fashion, on nicer paper. Of course, this doesn't work for many people as they simply don't do the second step and end up with tonnes of dodgy lecture notes. But it has worked for me very well. It helps with memory too.
