Not coming first in a badly ranked school; how will it affect my ATAR? (1 Viewer)

I was just looking to verify if this was true. If you go to a school where the cohort does poorly, are you affected greatly by their marks, unless you come first? If so, it would be a real disappointment to miss out on the high 90s ATAR I was aiming for just because there was one other person who did better in each of my subjects (who probably deserved it). If this is true then I can't help but feel very discouraged because of something that's not in my control.

There were a few people at my school who got 95+

It's about aiming for 90+ internals & matching it in the HSC exams.

My school was ranked 300+

But yeah... If you're in the other half of the cohort and they're shit then your marks will probably scale poorly.

You still have about three or four waves of assessments to save your ass from oblivion. Just snake it ("I don't study" > your friends will believe less competition and study less > you come in and ace every task 'coincidentally as you'll claim > come first > remain uninfluenced by a shit cohort and do well in the externals) and you'll soon be standing on your well deserved pedestal.
