pretty interesting looking at some of these
I never knew there use to be circular 50c coins
and its weird how only 8000 $1 coins were made in 1992 which would make them rare i guess :O

A lot of people think they are quite rare (which they arent) - they are worth $10 - $15 due to the silver content.

There are quite a few dates where the only coins produced are commemoratives for collectors.

What number of coins produced would classify a coin as rare? :)

I'd say less than 1,000 would make a coin "rare". But rarity doesnt always correspond with value. The popularity of a series is usually the key factor when it comes to value. For example, the rarest Lincoln Penny is the 1909-S VBD with about 500,000 minted. However, they are worth about $1,500 in average condition because Lincoln Pennies are so popular. In contrast, the key date of the Vatican 2 Lira series is the 1929 with 10,000 made, yet they are only worth $100 in top condition because they arent popular.

Have you ever asked shop assistants for change in coins rather than notes?
In the past, yes.
