Can anyone help me interpret my MATH1141 timetable and lecturers? (1 Viewer)

I'm completely lost. I enrolled in MATH1141 and picked the second lecture stream, so my timetable shows my lectures as being on at 9am Tuesday (Mat B) and 9am Thursday (CLB8). My instructors are noted as being Dr Potapov and Prof Schief.

HOWEVER I got an email from Doust saying this: "Welcome to those of you who will be having your Calculus lectures Tu 10 (Mat B) and Th 9 (CLB8)." So does this mean that my timetable is wrong about me having Schief, and is Doust my calculus instructor instead?

Then I saw this. http://www.maths.unsw.edu.au/sites/default/files/math1131-41inf13.pdf On page 5 of that pdf, there's a timetable for MATH1141 that says Doust is on at 9am Tues (okay fine, that makes sense with the email and my timetable) BUT it also says it's at CLB8 (the email said Mat B) and it doesn't even list a lecture for Thursday. Not to mention it says Doust takes algebra, not calc - this contradicts moodle, which says Doust + Schief are the calc instructors.

http://www.timetable.unsw.edu.au/2014/MATH1141.html So I looked at that link (class details) and THAT said that for LEC2 (which I'm enrolled in) the times are 9am Tues + Thurs with Potapov and Schief. It listed Doust and Grossman to be LEC1 instructors with classes on 4pm Tues + Wed.

There was an email from Peter Brown saying this:

"There are a couple of typographical errors in the timetable in the Course Handout. The Lectures for Lecture Stream 2 should be

Tuesday 9:00-11am MATHEWS-B
Thursday 9:00-11am CLB-8."

So I THINK that means this link (http://www.maths.unsw.edu.au/sites/default/files/math1131-41inf13.pdf) is wrong, and my timetable (and class detail) was right about the lecture time and the room. Bu that still doesn't explain Doust being the instructor for Tu 10 and Th 9...

This is what I've deduced so far:

- Timetable was wrong about instructors; I have Doust as my calculus instructor every Thursday at 9am at CLB8.
- This must mean that my algebra lecture is on every Tuesday at 9am at Mat B.

Am I right or hopelessly wrong? Can I even attempt to work out who is my algebra instructor at this stage?

*** ahhhhh what the hell I juuuuuuust realised something...I've been assuming that I'd have one two hour lecture for algebra and another two hour lecture for calc. Is this wrong? i.e. is it actually one hour of algebra, then one hour of calc every lecture? If this is the case, then do I still have Doust as my calc instructor?

help please. I'm so lost it's not even funny anymore.

Stream 2 is Tue 09-11 (w1-7,8-12, MathewsThB); Thu 09-11 (w1-7,8-12, CLB 8). The lecturer may have made a mistake in the time written in the email. The UNSW timetable and the link in the edit shows a different lecturer combination. You would have Doust and Potapov.

Edit: Also your link should be http://www.maths.unsw.edu.au/sites/default/files/math1131-41inf14.pdf (2014). The one written in your post is 2013.

the lectures are one hour algebra and one hour calculus, i got a bit lost but just go by your timetable, and it sounds like the email from doust meant that he's lecturing the second half of the tuesday lecture

That pdf file is for Semester 1 of 2013. Maybe they changed things around and hence no thursday lecture is being shown on that file. Also, the lecturers/combination of lecturers might have changed as well.

Potapov does have a thick accent, but he is funny and does attempt to explain things to students when you ask in the lecture. Just pay attention because you'll only understand every 3rd word.
