Re: HSC 2014 4U Marathon

Yes I guess but yes I should have showed that by dividing by 2. I will do that next time. Hahaha next one when you have time please.
Have a look at some of the questions I posted earlier in the advance thread

The only restriction is that you must be in high school, but the target audience are those who feel that they are competent with the fundamentals and seek a considerably more difficult paper to attempt.

We've had Year 11's attempt the Extension 2 BOS Trials before.

Re: HSC 2014 4U Marathon

Haha should be fun, altho I've heard some people became demoralised after getting like an 'super asian fail' Under 80% whilst that was an amazing mark for the exam.
Where's this held, library near the station?

First place got ~67 iirc and came first in the state, and second place got one mark below and came 7th

Re: HSC 2014 4U Marathon

Three pirates are sharing out the contents of a treasure chest containing forty-eight
gold coins and two lead coins. The first pirate takes out coins one at a time until a lead
coin is taken. The second pirate then takes out coins one at a time until the second lead
coin is taken. The third pirate then takes all of the remaining coins.
(i) In how many ways can the coins be distributed? (1 mark)
(ii) What is the probability that all three pirates receive some gold coins? (2 mark)

I'll post the provided solution after some-one gets it.

Is (i) 2C1*48C3 = 34592?
