Assess the worth of technological developments in car safety. What benefits are there for the individual and wider society?
Was this in response to an article or just in general?Assess the worth of technological developments in car safety. What benefits are there for the individual and wider society?
This is good info, but is not necessary. The questions asks to assess the worth of the technological developments. The key word is worth.Refer to the safety devices ultilised such as the seat belt, crumple zone and the air bag. Identify their purposes, outline how and why they operate. Link their operation with Newton's laws and other relationships, e.g. crumble zones increase the time taken to stop which reduces the force according to Newton's second law, f=ma, where f=m(v-u/t) as time increase the force decreases. You must make a judgement based on your reasons since it is an assess question.
This.since its an assess, its best to look at the good and bad aspects of car safety -
good: saves lives - crumple zones, seatbelts, airbags all delay the time it takes for the person in the car to come to a full stop, limiting the impact that's forced upon them = less severe injuries; saves money for care/treatment if lives are endangered (societal benefits)
bad: can be inconvenient
however, the benefits of car safety are much greater than its disadvantages, making it a worthwhile implementation. etc etc
use physics concepts to justify your assessment
lol, yes literally use if for everything. when a questions says something like "Discuss blah...." that is taken to mean points for AND against.This.
Also, a default disadvantage is cost - use it for everything.
w0t is aesthetics when you have lives at the wheel.lol, yes literally use if for everything. when a questions says something like "Discuss blah...." that is taken to mean points for AND against.
so say something like while crumple zones do save lives, they are utterly inconvenient and expensive to make. they also remove the aesthetics of the car (unless you're driving an aventador)
