it can be beneficial for some but for the majority of people it's just a complete waste of time.

I did my speech for english and got 10 / 15 for it
I was considering scrapping it for the written essay which was practically the same as the speech so I edited it and ended up getting 13 / 15 for it

Actually Universities prefer and recommend students to take gap years before beginning Uni now.
I'd be great if you had relatable work ready or for sure was going to travel but otherwise its a waste of time I reckon.

What I usually do is write the essay within one day and make it year 6 standard
Then I spend hours on it editing every single sentence making it Preliminary Advanced English standard
It seems to work relatively well for me
