''What activities (paid employment, work experience or voluntary) have you undertaken, in addition to your studies, which indicate your motivation to study medicine?''
Hi,
How do I fulfill the requirements of this? I am in Year 12 Currently. The problem is I want to get experience in any way in hospitals if that's possible currently. Is it? And what possible ways are there? I wouldn't mind any of voluntary, work experience or the rest.
Thanks
You don't need a hospital placement to indicate your motivation, it's asking for motives not experience. Even if you followed a doctor around in a hospital (won't happen, medical teams are busy enough as is with medical students) you'd barely scratch the surface of what being a doctor actually is. I would doubt that even first or second year medical students really have a handle on what the job actually entails. All the question is asking is what sort of things you've done in the past that has made you want to study medicine, answer honestly and you'll get a better response than if you scrambled a placement and faked one out. I never had a hospital placement for work experience and honestly it wouldn't have helped.

You're missing the point of what I'm saying. You can put whatever the hell you like so long as you can say how it motivated you to pursue medicine.

Whilst I do agree. It always looks better to have your foot inside the door than outside. It is probably too late for a hospital placement at this stage so embellish other aspects.

This is 100% correct.

For example: I volunteered at my siblings Primary School for one day.
Relation to Medicine: After this experience, I believe I have developed a keen interest in Paediatrics.

Right.
