Yes I completely agree with you on that, but most first year chemistry subjects will have you doing many sub-disciplines. Well from my experience anyhow. Are there universities that offer specialised first year chemistry subjects? Would be interesting to know.

Yes, first year is rounded and you don't focus in any specific sub-discipline. I personally didn't feel it was that much different from high school. The maths was about the same level but there was just more of it.

Second year is when the maths starts picking up when you meet thermodynamics.

Okay fair enough, I guess I just found the jump from acid-base chemistry of high school where only minimal maths was used to the first year acid-base chemistry where K values could be calculated and ICE tables were used. And yes thermodynamics is maths heavy, I think I like that having more maths in chemistry. Are you doing chemistry as your major?

It's really preference - I'm not a huge fan of maths, too much for me lol. And yes, chemistry is my major (as well as environmental studies).

Enthalpy + basically everything but more stuff added and you go through it again.

Only know mole calculations, dipole dipole forces, dispersion, intermolecular, hydrogen bonding and you're good

You need 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 for sure
8 is irrelevant except remember water has a SHC of 4.18 and this is supposed to be 'high'
5 is unnecessary
3– dont bother memorising solubility rules you don't need them (except 'all nitrates are soluble') and precipitation reactions are the most basic type of chemical reactions haha, you should be able to write them based on information provided but you don't need to memorise any from the year 11 course
