i recently heard about a Muslim man being bashed to death in Perth, purely because of his faith. if it's true, i wonder why i've heard so little about it in the media and in general

I know it's obvious haha, but it's the same kind of thing this thread is about. One person in the navy doesn't represent the whole navy, just like an extremist doesn't represent the whole muslim community.
