Read a hsc question from 2006. If they want you to use edta I believe they give the info on it, cause as far as I know, not in the syllabus.

Thanks guys! Btw for the quantitative test for hardness with EDTA, how much do we need to know about it? Can someone provide some details about it? Thanks :)
All you need to know is -

ration of calcium ions to EDTA ions is 1 to 1.

All you need to know (for calculation purposes) everything else they give

True but if they ask a question, describe a quantitative measure of hardness then you'd needa talk about EDTA and perhaps explain it? Or we wont get asked that?

- take a 250 mL water sample
- add 3 drops of ammonia/NH4Cl buffer solution
- Add a few drops of erichrome black T indicator
- titrate with 0.01 M EDTA until there is a colour change from wine red to blue

Equation is basically Ca2+ + EDTA 4- ---->CaEDTA2-

not in syllabus as already mentioned so dw (I realised after memorising). They'll give you all the info you need :)
Awesome, thanks HPF! :D

hmm guys are you all doing the lead acid cell?

I had dry cell ready to go but now I'm finding it hard to compare to fuel cell :/ plus it doesn't have that significant environmental effects
Most of us are doing lead acid cell because a past HSC question asked about the environmental impacts of a named cell.

Dry cell barely has any, and I remember this question being big marks

I was in the same situation. I did dry cell but a while ago i switched to lead acid. Doesn't take long to memorise and in terms of comparison it's better too :)

Dry cell is my primary cell (see what I did there? xD) while lead acid is my secondary cell (another pun :3), it's more of a backup incase the questions a bit iffy.
