Hi everyone,
HSC just started for me :(

so i got my marks for year 11 and put them in Martix attar calculator and got an estimated attar of 90.42
My goal is to get 98 attar but don't know how!
To thos who got 98+ how did you manage your time and other commitments

i do:
- English ESL (81.98%)
- Mathematics (96.58%)
- Mathematics ext. 1 (89.30%)
- Mathematics ext. 2 (maybe i will drop)
- Chem (88.80%)
- Bio (83.25%)
- Arabic (91%)
- Arabic Extension 1

if you know how i could manage my time for each subject looking at my raw marks
plus, do you think i should keep Maths Ext 2
and is 13 u too many?

any help would be appriciated

you haven't even sat 1 year 12 assesment task. btw those are raw marks not aligned or scaled.
btw stop asking about 4unit, you've made like 5 threads. one is enough.
just to add, those marks might be scaled up depending on your school ranking and your own ranks

Don't drop MX2 (unless you're really thaaaat bad at maths). Doing extremely mediocre at MX2 already helps you get that 98 atar! (not forgetting to mention it makes MX1 easier + count for 2 units).
If you want 98, drop arabic/arabic ext 1. I punched it into Talent's atar calc. Even if you get 100 hsc mark - you're only getting 96.4 atar for that (this is for arabic extension). I assume arabic is even worse.

They say don't choose subjects based on scaling but it's pretty clear arabic is an exception, lol.

thank you!

does arabic scale that bad? people told me that if you get high marks, you can be scaled really high!
i got the 91% without studing or practising any questions, so maybe if i do practise i will get higher!
and if i drop these 3 units, is it a risk having only 10 units?

It scales so bad that even if you get 100/100 for everything you'll only get 96.4 atar for it (equivalent). It's capped basically. You can see for yourself using talent 100's atar calculator (they give atar equivalents for each course - go punch in 100 and see what you get). But if you can get the marks with no effort at all then by all means keep it :) It's a good safety net I suppose (so you don't get below 90 atar). Not a good idea if you want 98 though (it's impossible).
I think arabic is one of the lowest scaling courses in hsc!

It's not that *risky* having 10 units. If you spend the extra time you got well, you shouldn't screw up majorly anyway. Keep arabic if you want. Just be mindful that it's capped. (also, the max is 96.4 so although you won't get 98 from it, you can still get something higher than 90) :)
