9:29pm: The Premier is calling on Sydney residents to attempt to go about their day as normal tomorrow.

But that will not be possible for school students scheduled to attend excursions in central Sydney.

The NSW Deputy Secretary for Education and Communities. Greg Prior, said that in view of the situation and uncertainty about security arrangements, all excursions were cancelled "until the safety can be assured within the CBD."

"If you are under any uncertainty about the safety of excursion plans to other areas please consult your principal," Mr Prior said.
