so yeh, currently deciding between UNSW and UTS

Most of my mates are going to Macquarie or UWS, while I'll be going to UNSW, so I'm in a similar position. In the end, you'll make friends. I'll definitely be doing all I can to keep up with my high school mates, but consider what is best for you in the end. If you made friends once, you'll make them again, in a different environment.

Tbh, no one from my school except maybe a handful of others joined me in doing science at UNSW. I would definitely not base my choice of uni on high school friends going there. Though at least half of my high school grade go to UNSW, I barely ever see them at uni, both because we're in different parts of the campus and there are thousands (tens of thousands??) of students at the uni so it's hard to bump into them. If you are concerned about making friends, there are so many opportunities to do so - just get involved. It can be sitting next to a stranger in a lecture, going to a social soccer game on the oval and meeting people with the same interests, or signing up for peer mentoring if it's offered.

Not very social at all. I went once, never again. Its just a gang bang of groups of friends. Then there's a few individuals by themselves

I personally wouldn't let people from a previous stage of my life drag me down. I can always make some new friends and am not afraid to do so

I had only two join me but I still meet up here and then with other HS mates. And I barely see the 2 from my HS at uni.

to answer OP's question, im doing a course at a uni where none of my high school friends is

i don't actually care because you steadily lose touch with most of ur high school buddies and u only rly stay in touch with a few and those few you hang out with outside of uni anyway.

You'll make different friends at uni anyways. Go to UNSW, it's the better uni, don't let your friends dictate your future career path.

Already at a uni with only 1 other high school friend attending, it's fine

As everyone has said, you end up making new friends who are imo sometimes even better to hang out with

lol it's more beneficial for you to not stick with your high school friends in uni... you'll be limiting yourself

can confirm, because about 80 of my cohort went to UNSW they're all kind of weird still and don't socialise outside of the school cohort as much

like come on guys some of you are graduating this year and you don't do anything with anyone besides high school people still?
