Are EAS points definitely applied to ATAR? (1 Viewer)

Hello! Provided that I received EAS eligibility from all institutions, will at least one bonus point be applied to my ATAR? Could there be a scenario where a university choose to not add EAS points despite offering to do so? I know it's pretty late for me to ask, but I have extreme anxiety and paranoid thinking so if anyone could help me out, that would be greatly appreciated ^_^

Which university is this?

Some straight out tell you how much(UTS, UWS), others are shrouded in mystery(Macq, UNSW), and some I have absolutely no idea (USYD).

So, tell us Jenny, which university?

Okay, your actual ATAR won't receive any bonus points, but when applying for a university it will have a couple of points added depending on their rulings.

For UNSW, there is EAS, though it differs based on the popularity of the course and what type of EAS you are under in. The S01E (school disability), one person on bos received 3 points for a high 90s degree. So it may vary from there.

For USYD, on their website it doesn't seem to say anything about bonus points, but there is something called the 'Broadway' scheme where EAS applicants are eligible for.

If their atar falls under less than 5 points off the cutoff, there are 600 places each year. However, similar to UNSW it differs based on the popularity of the degree (the higher the lower).

"For example, in January 2013, while the Combined Law ATAR cut-off for the University was 99.70, the Broadway Scheme cut-off was 97.40, meaning that Broadway Scheme places were exhausted prior to those applicants 2.5-5 ATAR points off the regular cut off being considered. In other Broadway-approved courses though, the full 5 ATAR point differential did apply."

OMG i am so paranoid about the exact same thing
and I also only applied for unsw and usyd HAHA
so... is captain price saying that at least one point is given minimum..? or..

It could be minimum 1 or it could be something like 0.5, who knows.

However, for UNSW, if someone received 3 bonus pts for a degree in the high ninties, I'm sure there's a fair chance you'd be getting something similar as long as your degree doesn't have a higher cutoff.

Also remember USYD's version is different, as a I explained in my previous post.

I was in the same position. I assumed my EAS would be granted. When i did my HSC i missed approx 50 days of school due to illnesses, and had to resit a few exams here and there. Doctor approved my EAS form and listed me as severely affected and so did a specialist backed by my school director.

Comes out, that i was NOT granted EAS eligibility for anything.

So don't expect you will get EAS eligibility in the first place.

Also, my class mate who was granted EAS eligibiltiy (he had cancer during Yeat 12), got some points from some universities and others 0 points. If i remember correctly he got 10 points by UTS, and about 2 from UNSW. Another class mate, (didn't specify his illness to me) got very limited points from only a few universities as some even rejected his EAS. So yes, it does also depend on the university.

I'm sorry to hear that I think I received eligibility at all UNIs though, as confirmed by a letter from UAC? Did you hand in a late application for EAS? Because I thought you find out whether or not you are eligible before course offers come out..

Just wanted to point out that UNSW gives you anything from 1-10 bonus points through their EAS scheme - no half points are given, only whole numbers.

I think for quite a few universities to be eligible for EAS you need to achieve over a specific ATAR.

omg your post was the best thing i read in the whole of today. thank you TT__TT i just needed someone to confirm that a minimum of 1 point is given (rather than a . of a number), provided one has received eligibility ^_^

To all who are a bit confused about my situation.

I did my HSC in 2013. Back then, i received the letter a few days after the release of results in DEC (Got mid 90s atar). So yeah, my mistake, you guys should have already found out.

I wasn't granted it, which really pissed me off. I appealed it, but the Admin lady rejected it, despite me having a very strong case. She made up some excuse as to why i didn't receive eligibility - that i didn't have enough evidence (despite providing at least 20 medical certificates and written letters from school director and a letter from a psychologist and a letter from a specialist). I hope it was not my race that in the end cost me (doctor had to list my ethnicity on the certificate - which is a race that isn't perceived well nowadays .... you know what i mean?). But seriously, i don't know why it was actually rejected if my class mates who had less serious cases than me got it approved.

In the end, doesn't really matter. I got a high GPA and can literally transfer into any course i want.
