hey so I am doing Civil/Environmental and doing
MATH1131
PHYS1121
ENGG1000

CVEN1300 is a suggested elective. I tried enrolling into Semester 1 but it says that PHYS1121 is a prerequisite.(http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2015/3631.html )

can someone please explain this ? and
what should i pick instead for this course as an elective, i was thinking of CHEM1011???

ideas would be much appreciated :DD
thanks in advance

I reckon you should do ENGG1811 instead. If you do CHEM1011, your peers will be Chem Eng and Chemistry students (who should be doing that in semester 1), so you might not fair as well.

ENGG1000 and ENGG1811 are completely independent of each other. If your concern is that they both begin with ENGG, then that's not an issue. None of your semester 2 courses requires CHEM so you can do it in semester 2.

Following the plan http://www.engineering.unsw.edu.au/...nvironmental-engineering-3631-commencing-2015 would make your life easier. I'm pretty sure CHEM1101/CHEM1031 is a CORE for environmental so you have to do that anyway. CVEN1300 would be your other core, so only have one elective. (Correct me if i'm wrong).

But yeah, you have to pass physics then you can do CVEN1300 in second semester :)
Whether you do CHEM A in semester 1 or 2, and ENGG1811 in semester 1 or 2 makes no difference in terms of following the plan. They are both offered in both semesters. They are not prerequisites for any first year semester 2 courses, so order is not important.

One thing to note is instead of SOLA1070, they changed the 2nd year course to ENGG1400. The Handbook isn't always 100% correct. The School has to submit their plan of study by around September, but changes can still be made to the plan of study at any time. However, the Handbook will not be updated, so it's important to follow the School's website instead.

Another version of that link: http://www.engineering.unsw.edu.au/...2015/Program 3631 - Civil & Environmental.pdf
